Let’s face it: If you too have super oily skin & are into AB at all, you’ve heard of this legendary setting powder. It claims to stay matte all day, even on the oiliest of skin, & not have flashback.

First the pros: it actually stays matte!!! Without needing to reapply, my skin stayed matte for 8 hours & there was no break through shine. Price point is very reasonable too ($11).

Cons: While it does live up to the hype of staying matte all day, it unfortunately leaves a very pronounced grey/white cast if you are medium tan or deeper. I looked like I had powdered my face with corn starch, it was that pronounced. My base makeup no longer matched & looked a couple shades too light. But the real issue was the grey tinge it left. While it doesn’t have flashback, I looked ghostly in pictures.
The second day I tried just using it with a light hand under the eyes as a bit of a brightener, but had the same awful greyish white look. It was so obviously off that a co worker asked if I was feeling ok because I “looked off”…

While I know not all AB brands have great shade ranges, only having one shade of setting powder that isn’t truly translucent is really unfortunate. Anyone deeper than a medium skin tone is most likely unable to use this product. It was honestly one of the worst setting powders I’ve ever tried in regard to color.

In conclusion: The powder does stay matte for extended periods of time, but the grey cast makes it unusable for those with anything deeper than a medium skin tone. Disappointed would be an understatement. As a result, I’m giving it a 2 out of 5.
