Hi folks!

DIY-er here that has been doing my own nails for years and wanting to grasp more technical ways to use my art supplies.

I recently purchased chrome and color powders, blooming gel and a 3D gel for building shapes like on my thumb.

I struggled with the blooming gel the most- it was tough to not add a ton of bulk to the nail and create a design other than ‘blob’.

With chromes, my nails could be completely lint free and then when I apply my top coat there’s little bumps of crud. Also, I couldn’t isolate the chrome without taking the chrome off the points I wanted it to when I applied my top coat (you can see this in my nail with the blue dots).

With the 3D gel, I struggled getting the shapes/lines smooth. It was slightly easier applying it directly onto the nail from the tube vs. putting it on a palette and then onto the nail. When I added some chrome powder it seemed to kind of lose its shape and become more liquidy.

This was kind of my first attempt at nail art but I’d love to improve and be pointed in the way of good tutorials for these types of materials/applications!
