I don't get they hype. I painted my nails, watched a whole movie, brushed my teeth, did all the bed time things, then went to bed so AT MINIMUM 2 1/2 hours had passed. Then I woke up to this and it isn't due to excessive layers either. I did a base, 2 coats, the the seche vite. What top coats can I use that are actually fast dry because it isn't this one.

Ok I can’t figure out how to.edit my post but here’s a product list since I was told I need one. Nail tek 2, MC dark horse, seche vite “fast” dry.

  2. Some things I do for quick dry top coats:

    – thinner coats are better and I try to have the patience to let each thin coat dry like 90% before painting another coat.

    – I let my nails dry like 80% ish before applying the QDTC. I know instructions say to do it immediately after the last color coat but that didn’t work for me. The paint under was still wet and soft and I would get dents like yours.

    – 5-10 min after the QDTC is applied and the paint is dry to the touch, I add cuticle oil to my cuticles and rub it (gently) into my nail polish. This seems to really help it set.

You may need to try different brands. Seche vite is okay but I prefer mooncat’s speed demon top coat. I’ve had way less issues with my nails drying using it.

I don’t personally use it, but I know from the community that this top coat can have a bit of a learning curve. That being said, it’s a holy grail TC for a lot of people!

It’s hard to tell whether it’s just the lighting, but it looks like the TC wasn’t applied evenly over the nail. Did you apply it all the way down past where your polish starts and up to the free edge?

Other ones easily available are Essie good to go, Sally Hansen insta dry (red bottle) and INM out the door.

  5. For me when I get dents it seems to be because I didn’t wait long enough between coats. Now I wait about 8 minutes after each coat of polish (and to be fair I think I paint a bit thick). I use Cuticula Limitless top coat and I can often paint my nails and go to bed an hour later (though I try not to fall asleep with pressure on my nails as well).

Seche Vite is hard as a rock in under 10 minutes for me, even with a pretty thick coat. You are using their Vite top coat, right? And haven’t thinned it?

Do you have problems with the nail polish underneath? Some of my polishes and base coats never cure, usually the super thick or super cheap ones. So the top coat will be hard but I can move it around like a water bed. I always wait for my layers to be touch-dry before applying the next layer (some polishes that can be seconds, while others it can be minutes, especially base coats).

It’s fine if Seche Vite isn’t your jam! It’s not everyone’s holy grail. But it’s important to troubleshoot the other factors too.
