Sorry for the low effort pics, I’m on my break! I do my own gelX nails and have been for a whole, bit i feel like they always look a little rough . I don’t try and do much nail art either but even when i just do solid colors, it still looks weird! I know my cuticles are rough right now, but that area in general starts getting craggly even after a day or two.

I’m not expecting myself to be perfect at it, but you would think I could do a solid color manicure that looks like I got it at a salon. I know no one looks at my nails more than me and no one notices, I just want to do better for myself and don’t know how. I want to be able to take better pics of my manicure and not feel inadequate.

I really love them. It feels like you need an extra coat or two of polish to avoid anything being translucent, and getting some cuticle oil to use regularly (at least a few times per week).

I would also recommend going back with a q tip to clean up the edges. I think they look professional and amazing, you just need a couple things!

I think they’re fine! Especially the shape, in my opinion. If you think it’s off, consider trying a different color. The color of your nails should complement your skin. Find out whether you’re a cool tone or a warm tone.

  3. Personally I think the French tips would look better if they were more v shaped, and maybe wipe off the gel around cuticles before curing cuz you have some on the skin that looks messy

remember, practice makes perfect! dont be too hard on yourself every nail tech started somewhere.

You just need to practice staying in the lines a little more. The product is spilling off the nail into the sides and cuticle.

And a very shiny top coat always helps polish things up as well.

They look lovely! Honestly, this looks like a professional job to me, but if you wanna be finnicky (which I get it, I’m the same way), if I’m gonna break a sweat to find any little details that could technically be perfected:

    * As someone mentioned in the comments, it does look as though your red nails are a little translucent. I think it looks cool and like stained glass, but you might need an extra coat of color if you’re going for that opaque look.
    * I can see there’s a little bit of nail polish that has gone outside the cuticle edge.
    * I think your smile line curve isn’t quite deep enough. Instead of the linear swipe of red at the end of the nail, I’d recommend curving the edges down the sides and making more of a dramatic arch. An elegant sliver of color that follows the edge curve of your nail, rather than a slightly curved wipe of color that sits at the tip.

  7. What don’t you like about them? I think they look pretty good. It just looks like you need a clean up brush for around the cuticles. I would also make more of a deeper “smile” line for the frenchies. I try to match them to the shape of my nails for a more consistent look.

They’re really pretty. I would do a few coats to have them more opaque and this will help them look shiner. Also, try to bring your French tops lower and line more down the side walls. It will look sharper.
