This was my first time using press-ons. I did all the recommended prep before applying. A few popped off 1.5 weeks in and I decided to remove the rest. Used a combination of hot, soapy, oily water; most came off but layers of my nailbed came off as well. Decided to wait a few days to take off the last two, hoping time would loosen them more. These were a b*tch to take off!!! Tried a combo of the hot soapy oily water, dripping jojoba oil under the partially lifted press-ons, and the warm rice + nail polish remover with acetone in a baggy thing as a last resort (which was gross; pretty sure the nail polish remover was melting the plastic bag).

Long story short, my nails are now damaged and flaky. I bought some stuff to help strengthen them:

  • 100% jojoba oil
  • Sally Hansen Advanced Hard as Nails Strengthener
  • Trader Joe's Head to Toe Moisturizing Balm

I'm hearing conflicting info about Sally Hansen and recommendations for OPI. However, I don't intend to grow out my nails any more than shown in the photos.

Are these items okay in a pinch? Will the nail strengthener prevent my nails from flaking/seal in the stuff that already coming off?
