31F with post-partum hair loss, combined with stress (new moms just can't catch a break!). I've been losing significant number of strands in the past 6 months post my birth. New moms get leeway, I know, but my hair was EVERYTHING for me (iykyk).

Losing my hair honestly was as difficult as everything that happened before it (I am not even exaggerating). It was such a heavy blow to my self esteem. I also couldn't use most of my usual hair care routine because they suddenly gave me weird rashes or just made my scalp feel super dry. It's as if my entire body (and hair) had turned on me. So I decided to go back to my roots and keep it simple.

Day by day, week by week. Simple hair oiling for 15 minutes in the morning 3X a week (or champis as my mom lovingly would call it). I initially started with basic coconut oil and then moved to powerful ayurvedic oils with actives (regime below).

Then I added a lightweight serum after testing out for a few days if it didn't react adversely for me.

On top of it – used a gentle cleanser with shikakai/ amla. Double/ Triple wash if needed to get buildup out.

Usually this is enough hydration and doesn't need conditioners. If I specifically want something for the curls, I use a leave in post-wash.

Full Routine below:

Customized hair regime by Muniveda 3X a week for hair density and nourishment:

  1. Pre-wash hair oiling: 3X a week. 15 mins of massage. Knead the oil into the scalp in circular motions with the hands until you feel it soak in. Has some ancient ayurvedic actives that do magic on the scalp. Deep breaths during massage. Make it meditative (helps with the stress too! Believe me!) – 5/5

  2. Shampoo: Wash off the oil after an hour with their nice, gentle cleanser that has shikaki and amla. I'll give this 3.5/5 because it does take double/ triple wash to get the oil out. But I could live with it because it didn't strip the scalp of essential oils important for scalp health.

  3. Overnight serum. Beautiful, lightweight serum with great actives based in turmeric, rosemary, licorice root. So light I didn't even have to wash it out. 4.5/5

This is usually enough and my new, thick curls are nice and bouncy enough. If I do want to go for some extra pep (and if I have extra time on my hands – LOL for new moms), I either go for Ashba leave in cream (3.5/5) or Ichikami hair styling (4.5/5). Followed by air dry or diffuse.
