After telling a co-manager I’d paint my nails as a joke, I found myself genuinely loving the sense of expression I got from it. As a straight male, how problematic is this?

  1. Not problematic. I am a woman and I paint my straight boyfriend’s nails. I love how he is so content in his masculinity, and I love it when we get to have matching nails!

  2. The only problematic thing here is that it looks like you work in the food industry & that’s a big FDA no-no // joking, alt that is true lmao

My husband is 37, straight, and works a job building decks. He recently changed jobs and got a compliment on his nail polish from an office employee on his first day. He generally gets more compliments than I do.

That said, how problematic it can be has a lot to do with the culture in your everyday life. It can be an issue if you work in food or have a supervisor or boss who makes uninformed judgments based on your nails. Obviously your co-workers are good with it, so it seems fine.
