I’ve tried SO MANY sunscreens in search of one that would be truly mattifying but not chalky and powdery. I got this sunscreen by celimax on a whim during a Stylevana haul and didn’t expect much from it tbh, but finally, it’s possible to moisturize AND put on sunscreen without any pilling or having to forgo one or the other due to having oily skin 😭

Attempted niacinamide and zinc, blotting papers (removed spf), powders and primers clogged my pores, and other sunscreens that claim to mattify, but nothing has ever worked like this sunscreen. There can be some flaking if not enough moisturizer is used, but overall this is the only sunscreen that actually is MATTE without pilling or having a nasty mask like white cast (there is an initial white cast that fades after about 10 minutes). This has to be double cleansed to get it completely off btw but I’m sure that’s standard for most sunscreens. I live in an area that’s fairly warm all year round with typically at least 50% humidity daily.

Here’s a list of previous trials (will update if I remember more):

    YES:

Anessa sun milk: expensive but the hype is real. This thing is SPF liquid gold and somehow blurs pores…?

Benton air fit UV Defense: decent option, would prefer to wear this when it isn’t too hot though

Haruharu wonder black rice airy fit sunscreen: this one is solid! I usually use this when I don’t want to be too mattified. Texture is thicker than others

Missha Aqua sun gel (old version): previous HG despite alcohol included, discontinued sadly

Apieu soo boo ji sun cotton (RIP): previous HG got discontinued 🙁

(Not AB): eucerin oil control dry touch for face: I like this, but it’s just difficult to get since I live in the states and I think this is EU based

    Meh…:

Skin1004 hyalu-cica sun serum: it’s alright, but still too shiny for me. It has a “natural” finish but makes me look too glowy since I’m oily af

Mary and May vegan cica sunscreen: not bad but I would only wear this during winter, gets me too oily for hotter days

OMI Sunbears gold: bit too thin for my liking and it has a natural finish, but I don’t feel too protected with this one

Clio air glass sun cushion: I’m not sure if this is discontinued? I really liked the feel and formula though, but being a sun cushion, I’m sure it was meant for reapplication only (I used it as main spf though before I learned about why sticks and cushions shouldn’t be used alone for spf)

    NO:

Numbuzin no 1 sunscreen in blue green tube: omg GREASE GALORE. Instant return

Biore UV Essence: alcohol was horribly drying yet this was also very greasy at the same time… hated it

Missha all around soft finish milk with pink cap: FLAKY. Left a white cast too…

Missha all around Essence sun milk with green cap: definitely not meant for oily skin!

Etude house sunprise (old version): omg I looked like a chalky kabuki mask… too much white cast and looked dry

(Not AB) supergoop unseen: felt nice at first until I realized it wasn’t doing much in terms of protection and it started clogging my pores :/
